A: Installation Steps:
1. Create a directory on your hard drive called C:\PL2303A and copy all files on
the driver disk to this directory.

2. Insert the GPS's receiver plug into the USB port of your computer and follow
the installation instruction. In the third instruction screen, you will be asked
for the "location of the (driver) file." Click "Browse" to setup the path to where
you had saved the driver files to (C:\PL2303A\PL2303-092501A) on you local hard drive. Only a path
need to be set to the directory (C:\PL2303A\PL2303-092501A") location, then the installation process
will automatically select and load the correct USB driver according to your O/S version.

3. Continue following the installation instruction until you have completed the process.

4. For checking the location of your assigned COM port for the USB GPS device, simply
open the "Control Panel," click on "System," select "Devices Manager," and then look
for the heading "Port (COM&LPT.)" and maximize it by clicking on the "+" sign.
You should have a "USB to Serial Port" listed here which is assigned to a specific
COM port, (Generally COM3, but may vary from computer to computer).

5. You will need to know the COM port assignment for the USB device when configuring
any map or chart software, which will be reading the GPS data being received through
the GPS device. This includes the setup of the included SiRF demo program. Please
notice that this step is very important and if not setup (configured) properly, the
SiRF demo program or any other mapping software will be unable to communicate with
the GPS device.

6. After complete following the above installation steps that GPS device should work
well with your mapping software.

7. If you cannot able to set up your PC successfully by following the above procedures
of installation, please unplug the GPS device from the USB port and re-insert it after
5 seconds for resetting the device.

B: Why you need to use SiRF demo program:
We supply the SiRF demo software to verify that the GPS device is actually configured
properly and it working. The USB driver disk contains the SiRF demo program and after
copying the files to your hard drive can be found at: C\PL2303A\SirfDemo\sirfdemo.exe.

C: Operation steps of SiRF demo program:
1. From the directory containing the SiRFDemo directory files on your local hard drive,
run the "sirfdemo.exe" file.

2. The "Data Source Setup" screen should now appear. The following needs to be configured:
i. "Supplied Data" radio button should be selected.
ii. "Instrument (Measured Data)" box should be checked.
iii. Select the proper COM port for your GPS device as confirmed in step number "A-5."
iv. Set "Baud Rate" to 4800 which is the default for NMEA.
v. Press "OK" button.

3. Click on "Action" from the pull-down menu and select "Open Data Source" and click
"NO" when prompted.

4. Next click on "View" from the pull-down menu and go to "Messages" and in the
sub-menu open each of the three windows required one at a time: "Response," "Error,"
and "Development."

5. If no mistakes have been made in the configuration process there should be data
being displayed in the "Development" window and will confirm that the communication
between the GPS device and the SirfDemo software is working properly.

NOTE: Configuration (selection) of the assigned GPS COM port must be entered into
any mapping or charting software you install into your PC, in order to communicate
properly with the GPS receiver.

6. If the operations above are unsuccessful and cause errors, please unplug the GPS
from the USB port and re -insert it after 5 seconds to reset the device.

D: Un-installation:
Run the program "DRemover98_2k.exe" to uninstall the GPS driver.

E: Troubleshooting:
NO GPS RESPONSE AFTER INSTALLATION:
1.	If you have followed the above installation steps but the GPS device still
does not work, try unplugging the GPS device from the USB port and wait for at least
10 seconds, then re-connect the GPS device back into your PC. Also note that if you
want to re-start your map software, you should also wait at least 10 seconds before
re-opening it.

REGARDING ERATTIC MOUSE CURSOR IN WIN2000:
2.	If your mouse cursor doesn't work properly when boot-up on or have reset the
WIN2000 O/S, this situation is caused by a problem in WIN2000 and is not related to
the GPS device. Microsoft has acknowledged this issue and stated that is due to the
fact that "the serial device (USB is actually converted to serial), may be detected
as the serial mouse in WIN2000 O/S." To best resolve this issue, unplug the GPS
device from the USB port during boot-up and only re-insert after boot-up is completed.
